Brian J. Miles

Brian Miles practices primarily in the areas of admiralty, transportation and immigration law. He is experienced in all aspects of traditional admiralty law, including matters involving the Jones Act, the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, and foreclosure of maritime liens. Mr. Miles, for several years, taught Admiralty as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and at the Detroit College of Law. He is a contributing author to Benedict on Admiralty Vol. 8, Desk Reference (1996), published by Matthew Bender & Company, Inc., and is also a regular contributor to Benedict’s Maritime Bulletin. Mr. Miles is a proctor member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and is past Chair of the Admiralty Section of the Detroit Bar Association.
